The Best 2019 Summer Events in FresnoIf you’re ready for some summer fun, Fresno has you covered. If a trip out of town isn’t in the cards for your family this year there are plenty of things to do right here. Here’s a look at some of the best 2019 summer events in Fresno.

LIVE MUSIC

On Friday, June 7 from 5:00pm-10: 00 pm you can catch Violin On Fire Featuring Patrick Contrer at ApCal,  32749 Avenue 7 Madera, CA 93627. Enjoy Rock-n-Roll violin, with a full back up band! Local rock star Patrick Contreras has brought his electrifying style of the violin to the masses with his spectacular musical performances! Born and raised in Fresno, Patrick Contreras has branded his style of playing with influences from Jimi Hendrix & Santana to become one of violin's rising stars with a completely unique sound. On Friday, June 7 from 5:00pm-10: 00 pm enjoy the flavor of Latin Music Night featuring Raw: A Tribute to War (Can you say LOW . . . RI . . . DER?) at ApCal,  32749 Avenue 7 Madera, CA 93627. This band will take you back in time to relive the Latin, Soul, Blues, R&B and Funk creating a big pot of musical gumbo! The local tribute band, RAW: a Tribute to WAR, has earned a reputation as one of the Valley's best Tribute bands! This 8-piece ensemble brings the sound of this iconic band back to life! CAMPS FOR KIDS (Ongoing events)

Young Explorers Camp runs from June 11 through August 8 this year from 9:00 am to12: 00 pm at San Joaquin River Parkway & Conservation Trust, 11605 Old Friant Road Fresno, CA 93730. Designed for young children 3 1/2 through entering Kindergarten (must be potty-trained), the program is set in an unhurried, natural setting. Campers will spend time looking for signs of wildlife, exploring the Hidden Homes trail, and learning about the plants and animals that make this area their home. Each day we'll focus on a theme and campers will participate in singing, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and other hands-on activities led by our experienced staff of Young Explorers counselors. There will be time for water play and nature walks each day.  Parents and grandparents are welcome to stay and join in the fun. Young Explorers camp is held Tuesday through Thursday mornings. River Camp Summer Day Camp runs from June 10 through August 9, 2019 (8:15 am to 4:15 pm) at San Joaquin River Parkway & Conservation Trust, 11605 Old Friant Road Fresno, CA 93730. This camp is for children Entering 1st through 8th grade. All River Campers must ride the River Camp bus to and from Scout Island each day. Campers return to the River Center at approximately 4:15 pm, Monday-Thursday. On Friday the River Camp play is held at the River Center at 3:30 pm; campers may leave with their guardian as soon as the play is finished. Friday Sunset Kayak Tour

Get out on the water and have fun (and get a little wet). If you’re reasonably physically fit and prepared to get a little wet, and 12 years of age or older, you can enjoy excursions on the water every Friday  from May 3 to September 13 from 4:30pm-8:00pm at the San Joaquin River Parkway & Conservation Trust- Owl Hollow to Fort Washington Beach, 11605 Old Friant Road Fresno, CA 93730. You’ll have your choice between a canoe (two-person boat) or a “sit-on-top” kayak (single-person boat). You’ll begin your excursion with exhilarating riffles that turn into calm downriver stretches. The total time required is 3.5 hours (approximately 2.5 hours on the water). Cost is $35 for Members, $40 Non-Members.  For additional information and specific dates, click here.

Have Fun at the Farmers Market

If you enjoy farm fresh foods, live entertainment, and want to support the local economy, you’ll find it at the Old Town Clovis Farmers Market every Friday night from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. You can relish the offerings of various local farmers, eat local foods, sample the wares of local food trucks, and enjo

Broadway in Fresno!

There are so many wonderful opportunities to catch live theatre this summer right here in our own backyard! The #1 musical on Broadway, Book of Mormon, will be coming to the Saroyan Theater for a limited engagement July 14 – July 19! You can also catch your Broadway-bound local stars in community theatre productions of Mary Poppins at CenterStagePeter Pan and Cinderella at CMTInto the Woods at StageWorks FresnoOliver! and All Shook Up at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater and the Woodward Shakespeare Festival in Woodward Park!

Greek Fest!

Get your Greek on at the 55th Annual Fresno Greek Fest this August. It’s bigger than ever! Discover the joy of being Greek for a weekend as you experience the tastes, smells and sounds of the Grecian Islands! From baklava to gyros and everything in between, this weekend will leave your tastes buds satisfied and your stomachs full! Then learn to Greek dance with Kopi Sotiropoulos and work off all of those delicious calories! This special event runs from August 28 through 30 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
